sunflower fields in central Boiivia...little bit of an oddity about this place...when I was down there dove hunting several years ago,I noticed all, or most of the fields were about 400 yards wide but they typically would be 4-6 miles long broken only by a field road crossing them...they always had a strip of jungle or woods separating each field... I was told the reason for this, is that back in early 1900's,this was all jungle before some wealthy people from Brazil bought the land...they cut the jungle down and burned it(I think it's called "slash and burn")...they then farmed the land for several years until the soil lost it's fertility then abandoned the area....the region was plagued by dust storms for several years until the Bolivian govt. made a deal with a Mennonite group(I think from Germany) to come into the country, put the area under cultivation in exchange for the land but with a stipulation fields could only be so wide without a windbreak...

Cool, hard to find a downed bird in there? they did a really good job recovering birds....you had two bird boys...one would be by your side dropping shells into your pouch as needed and counting your birds killed with a clicker...the other bird boy would be out in in front or behind you picking up birds while you were shooting.....you just didn't shoot at any low birds because often the sunflowers would be taller than the bird boy and you couldn't see him...same situation with jungle behind you being thick and you not able to see the bird boy back there picking up birds.......
