Headed down for a short day trip and crossed over the bridge at sunrise. Surf conditions were rough and the waves were rocking. Chocolate milk clarity and set after set crashing in. Trying to kayak baits today would have been nothing short of suicidal. Driving conditions were somewhat better than they were over the weekend but still less than ideal. From the beach entrance all the way to the cut I only encountered one guy driving off the beach and one guy camping out around the 10 mile mark. I had the entire north end all to myself. With the surf looking the way it did, I really didn’t have high hopes for being able to put something together but one thing for sure is a dry line catches no fish and mine were damn sure about to get wet trying.

Made my way north and ended up trying several different spots until I found them. I was really hoping to get into another decent bull shark before they bug out for the winter but they didn’t want to come out and play. The slot reds, however, were out in full force. With zero mullet being present, I was forced to use the frozen whiting I had brought with me as well as fishbites to nail some fresh bait. Small chunks of whiting proved to work for the reds as I would end up landing several of them, only keeping the upper limit slots for a family get together this coming weekend. I would go on to land a nice bonus bull red as well that decided to chomp one of my shark baits. Whiting and croaker remained consistent on pink shrimp fishbites in the first gut, put just on the backside of the first bar.

Not bad for a Wednesday morning, I will take it all day every day! See y’all out there.
