A buddy got several big blues, 5-15 pounds, dumped in his small pond and wants them out before they eat up all the perch. Will punch bait work on blues? Any bait suggestions? I will not be netting fresh bait etc.

I would use Perch for bait you can catch them at the pond with worms while you are fishing.

Yes, punch bait will work on blues. And likely keep the perch away.

Thanks Z28. That's what I will do. Been "softening em up" throwing out a gallon can of range cubes every afternoon.

How about re-reading the last sentence of the original post?

Yea I saw that.

However in my experience you don't need a net to catch bluegill in a pond, a small hook and a little bit of nightcrawler or earthworm will do.

That said, if you're against doing that I would suggest chicken breast may work better than stink bait. I've never had luck catching anything other than eater size channel catfish on stink baits.

A 10-15lb blue is likely not interested in a prepared stink bait. Nice chunk of chicken breast might be better. He could do several homemade jug lines baited as such and take out a good deal of them in short order.

Watch Chad Ferguson's "splat fishing" videos. He catches a lot of "box" blues, but also catches some 7, 8, 9 lb blues on punch bait in those videos.
