This park is stocked every other week. On stocking day, it is shoulder to shoulder, almost everyone seems to have fish. Fish are stocked on Fridays, and I am not able to fish then, due to prior commitments. I fished there 7 times last year, never had a bite. I am using Power Bait,, fished on the bottom. Is it possible that all the fish are caught on stocking day?

Though i use power bait - best all round bite i've seen with stockers - is with mousetails - I think fshng84 had a nice post (outside this site - under his CAOF stuff) about how to use them (but can't recall for sure) - I usually get best results with chartreuse/orange or bubblegum/white. PM me if you can't find it and I can post some pictures of my rig. I use a cork indicator on the line for bites. Last year i limited out every time I used them - usually in under 1hr - on multiple different ponds. To the point that it is unfair/unfun - I switch to other baits/lures/flies so I can actually have fun fishing - that said it is great with kids or others who aren't used to fishing since they can just watch the cork indicator (other than the typical issue with kids of patience). Last item I'll mention - even with the stocked trout - location does make a bit of a difference. Stocked trout (especially on stocking day) will swim all over the pond - but they will follow structure or current as they explore their new environment. They are NOT getting cleaned out that first day though ( though i can't speak to how many are there since i've never done Greenbriar). If you are really having issues at Greenbriar - you can try some of the Mansfield stockings - those are not to far from Greenbriar. I live north of DFW so I don't go down that far usually - but feel free to hit me up if you want to go up to Denton or hit the Flower Mound stocking

I went to Greenbriar once or twice last year during the trout stocking season, no luck at all. I never tried it whenever they switched over to catfish either, but I did go to Chisholm park in Hurst and had a lot of luck there for catfish! Maybe you could try that for the trout? I'll have to check out the ponds in that program on Fridays to see if I can catch some trout. I don't mind driving far, anyone have a preference out of all those stocked ponds?

Well went when they stocked Wednesday and today, no luck. Saw one trout caught by a comorant. Guess I need wings instead of Power bait.

For the most part the first day of the stocking is the best day. I have fished a bunch of times over the years the day after a stocking and have limited out easily. I have two baits I use most of the time. They are the Berkley Trout Bait- Cheese Colored and a Gold Super Duper Lure. I have seen stockings where the fish do not bite until three or four hours after the stocking truck leaves. Fishing pressure and large populations of Cormorants will play a factor on the bite. Usually there are a lot of fish left the day after a stocking.
