Take an egg and poke a small hole in the shell. Crush up an aspirin and put it in the egg. Leave the egg out for the skunk. No more skunk. I learned this from Derek.

My GWP mix and neighbors dogs have taken care of our skunk problems. I camped in Shenandoah National Park one spring break. Park ranger warned us about bears coming out of hibernation but not the skunks. The skunks were very tame. We had 6 scavenging in our campsite at one time. To leave the site you had to walk within a couple of feet of them. One night we had 2 in our tent for a hour.

I trap them and take them out in the country and release them alive. I just can't bring myself to shoot them in a cage.

They say if you sneak up behind a skunk and lift it off the ground by its tail, you won't get sprayed.

They make a trap that is small and confined that will keep the skunk from spraying inside it. Have one you can borrow if you want.

So, Bills2006: How did you manage to release him from the trap without getting yourself sprayed? I'd rather release than kill. Thanks

Been using these for about 20 years. They work great. Skunk can't get it's tail up so can't spray. It is easy to dispose of them without smell.
