Went crappie fishing at local lake today. Fish were suspended in 30 ft of water (depth was 35ft). Water temperature was 56 degrees. Ambient temperature (outside) was from 32 degrees to 60 degrees by mid-afternoon. I was tight-lining a tandem hook set-up with a 1/8 oz. jig (various colors) on the bottom, and a minnow on the hook above that - about 18 inches. The various jigs I used were: all white With marabou tail, chartreuse head/pink marabou tail, Bobby garland single tail jig in clear/black speck, purple head/purple tail (feather), chartreuse head/body/tail.

I caught two small crappie all day.

I’m relatively new to “serious” crappie fishing. I caught tons during the spring and summer by finding them on my hummingbird and then “spot-locking” on them and fishing a tandem jig and minnow set up.

Granted, It is winter fishing, but I couldn’t “buy” a bite.

Any suggestions?

Find a creek close to deep water and close to where you caught them in spring that has bait .

Move and find active fish is what I would do

I don't hardly ever target suspended fish as they are the hardest for me to catch.....I always advise fishn structure in various depths and moving to stay on actively feeding fish.....

I love targeting suspended fish with LiveScope. If I can get the jig in front of them they seem to bite readily.
