I'm taking the fam down to Galveston in a few days and we're looking to do some crabbing with the kiddos. I'm wondering how it is around this time of year and whether anyone would be willing to share any tips or spots.

Thanks in advance and tight lines y'all!

my only suggestion would be try the texas city dyke.maybe pelican island, but the flounder fishermen will be pretty thick there.

Sorry to say ... but the Blue Crab populations along the Texas coast have been decimated in the last decade, and are only on a slight recovery. We're talking about something like a 90% reduction in population.

Dig around the internet and you will find the study done by TP&W. It's just not like it was back when.

That doesn't mean you can't try, and have a good time doing it.

Sorry, I don't knw much about the area you are goin to.

I'm glad there are wine drinkers in this world ..... it saves more beer for the rest of us.

There's still no bag limit on blue crabs, so the TPWD must not be too worried.

How did it go in Galveston?

If you can find fish-cleaning stations, those areas can be gold for crabs.

Encouraging. Hope the trend has continued up in the two-to-three-plus years since the article.
