So I took my kayak to Boerne lake yesterday to see if I could find some fish. One older guy I spoke with says he caught 4 or 5 bass on top water lures before I got there, which was around 9-9:30. However I didn't see anyone catch anything the whole time I was there, though there weren't very many people on the lake. I managed to hook one decent bass which came unhooked near the surface, I was very bummed about that. It seemed to be about 1.5 - 2 pounds and looked pretty chunky. I didn't see any signs of sunfish or any other type of fish either. I only saw one of two splashes the entire time I was there. I did manage to snag a 5 pound catfish in the side and the way it fought it felt like 50 pounds. It took me about 15 minutes to land and I was shocked the line held since that morning I didn't feel like doing a fancy knot and just did a triple overhand knot. Anyways, his stomach was full of something, I am really curious what it was, but I let it go since I'm not a very good cook and still haven't mastered filleting. Overall it was 5 hours of almost nothing, but it was a nice day to be out. I even took a quick swim, the water felt around 60 degrees.

Nice, yep not many perch, the bass I have caught all seem very underweight (as of a couple of years ago). I think it could use some fish management!

Nice post. Boerne Lake can be a challenge to fish. I have had my best days on Boerne Lake during the summer months. thumb

I live here and haven’t fished it in 6-7 years. There are a couple rock piles on the main lake that used to hold fish on occasion, you need SI to find them though. Too many people keep what they catch and in turn, the fishing stays bad.

Interesting. Guess I lucked into a pattern cause I have always done well there, in fact besides rivers and creeks that lake was my most consistent producer. Haven't been home in a couple years but back in 2018 my guys caught fish till their arms fell off.
