This is my first post on here but I read this forum everyday so I thought I would see if I could get a little info. I’m going to Rayburn next weekend and I’ve never fished it when it is this low, not worried about how the fishing will be but more importantly how dangerous this makes the navigation, will there be lots of stumps just below the surface or should most of them be visible at the current level? Any info will be appreciated.

Hey Devils Horse, man Rayburn is pretty rough now above the 147. I live here and fish the lake basically every weekend. I’m idling a lot across places I used to run. I whacked a tree three weeks ago and my prop is in the shop. Running a spare. It was in the middle of what I thought was a safe run. You can get around but it’s right where a lot of them are at water line or just below. Below the 147 there are some runs that I feel would be safe. There are some YouTube videos with way points you can watch. The fishing is getting better. I picked up some nice ones Saturday in the wind. My thoughts are just err to the side of caution, don’t follow just anyone. I see guys blow through places and it make me cringe! Hope you catch some good ones!

Thanks for the info, I guess I should have added that I fish out of San Augustine park most of the time, Buck Bay area and have just never been there when it is this low.

Buck bay is just like Toledo right under the surface, so is the whole lake if you draw a line from the little island out in front of millers straight north. There are lanes but they arent marked and the one in buck is narrow and I dont know how far back it goes. At this level I wouldnt want to run into buck bay. The trees start just past the twin coves. Millers is covered in stumps and not a lot of people know this but there is a big tree line heading into millers creek and it cuts across it where everybody runs. Not sure if those are in play yet. Plus you have square woods across from the island out in front of buck bay. My advice is if your unsure is to launch at Powell and fish that area of the lake. Not that you cant get around up by san Augustine, its just easier down by powell

I think I’ll take the tin rig and leave the Champ at home, take my time and try to mark some stuff for future reference. It’s either Rayburn or Falcon for the week of thanksgiving and Rayburn is a couple hours closer for me.
