I have been logging some hours on my kinda shallow water boat and have been experimenting with the trim, trim tabs and jackplate. I have a 23 ft pocket tunnel with trim tabs, a shaw wing cavitatioin plate, a hydraulic jack plate and a four bladed prop (not cupped). I had it out and was started raising the jackplate while on plane. I could get it up to about 3 inches up before the water pressure needle started to begin to fluctuate just a bit. But also at that point my bow was really high. I dropped my trim tabs all the way down and the bow came down and I was able to raise the jackplate to 3 1/2 inches and the water pressure needle stayed steady. Is this the point where the boat is running the most skinny? Tabs down and bow down, or tabs up and bow up. I am trying to get this figured out before I actually start trying to run shallow. I have also heard that running tabs full down can keep you on plane at much lower speeds? forgot to check that. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

Flat is thin. Bow high is not.

You might try blocking off the top three water intake holes, that'll keep your impeller from cavitating.

Assuming this is a V-hull once you're on plane use the tabs to keep your bow low and raise your motor as high as it can be raised without losing pressure. I've never had a boat with a pressure gauge so I just made sure it was still peeing a steady stream. Motor trim down all the way then up just a tad and that's as shallow as you'll be able to run.

That big Haynie should run through a foot of water ok, not get up in a foot, but run in a foot.

Trim tabs down to hold the bow down, up on jack plate until you lose water pressure or prop bite. Up on trim until you lose prop bite or start porpoising. What exactly is that? No clue, your boat will tell you what it likes.

Remember one thing if you're going to remember one thing...water doesn't compress, when you get back in the thin water, you'll feel your boat lift up and go. That's the water hydraulics keeping you floating. You're also in the thin line between being ok, and being stuck like Chuck. Be very aware when you get into that situation. I don't want to have to drag you out of a back lake.

Appreciate the advice gents, Tabs, JackPlate then trim in that order each time adjusting each one till the water pressure needle starts to shake a bit then bring it back steady. And I hope not to ride that thin line pat is talking about. I was stuck many times in my old bay stealth I used to have but this thing cost me at least 6 times as much so it may bring a grown man to tears.
