I somehow missed until his death, that Amanda Shires was Billy Joe's fiddle player.

Lol. I didnt know the CMA was a real thing. I thought it was just something they named a stupid award show.

As for the CMA's not honoring JJW, BJS, and John Prine. I believe that was a slight to the modern outlaw movement. Nashville big shots know they can't stop the movement. It grows bigger every day. So their only defense is to ignore it. Jinks put out two #1 albums last year in consecutive weeks. Not even an honorable mention for EOY. Even though he also sells out every single venue he hits.
They also know that all three of those legends were loved in the outlaw scene. In which Isbell was mildly accepted. He gained popularity in it this week. But he was way down the list when it comes to the heavy hitters in the scene. All three of those guys wrote some of the biggest songs in music history. Billy Joe wrote Waylon's greatest album. Nashville knows what's going on. They avoid it like the plaque. You know they see the comments. They see the streams and sales numbers from the real outlaws. We actually buy the music then stream it. They know how hard those deaths hit the outlaw scene. Yep, ignoring those three was definitely intentional. They'll use Covid as an excuse.
What Isbell did was stand up for sure. He gained respect in the scene. But calling him an outlaw is a stretch to say the least.

Sturgill has been effing with Nashville for years since he got snubbed. Busking outside the venue in 2017(I think it was) was an epic troll. roflmao
