Yeah you read that right... started out Saturday morning kayaking the San Antonio RiverWalk downtown. Took a couple of rods of course and to my surprise caught 11 bass! Most pretty small but did have a couple that were pushing the 2 pound range. Most on small crankbaits and a few on white flukes.
Had to be off of the RiverWalk by 11AM so I loaded up the kayak, left downtown and headed north the the upper end of Canyon Lake to finish out the afternoon. Met 2 kayakers coming back to the ramp as I was peddling out and they said they used every lure in the box and hadn't had 1 bite all morning. Well it took me an hour or so to figure out the pattern but I did finally find the hungry bass. Everyone was beating the stuff to death that looked good above the water. Turns out the fish don't always like the same spots we think look fishy. Found them on isolated wood on shallower inside bends of the river channel. Ended up catching 9 more bass up there mostly on flukes. Finished the day with 2 pound bass on Whopper Plopper topwaters right before dark.
Beautiful weather all day long. Can't wait for the next adventure. I wish I had taken the time to take more pictures of the upper end of Canyon Lake it really is stunning.
