11/4/2020: Took Larry Lenahorse and neighbor Ed D out on Cedar Creek Lake today from 9:45 AM to 4:30 PM. We caught 129: 123 white bass, 3 legal hybrids, 2 yellow bass, and a cat. We caught fish at Saint Annes Point East, Sam's Hump, Midlake Hump, Key Ranch Drop-off, Old Pond Dam, Merimac Hump, Spillway Point, and Game Warden Hump. Depths ranged from 12 fow to 24 fow. The most and biggest whites were at Spillway Point in 14 to 18 fow. Vast majority were caught on #4 Mepps and some caught on tail-spinners. The fish were very finicky. You had to work the Mepps slowly and add some action to it to get bit. Here are a few pics:

Dennis were you on Merimac Hump around 3:45 yesterday? If so I was the guy in the Tracker headed south. I fished a point just south of Twin Creek on the east side and those fish wore me out. My arm is still sore. I caught almost all of them on the Mepps #4. I played around with a few other baits and picked up a few. All were sandbass and most were giants.

Yes, we were there about that time of day. A point just south of Twin Creek sounds like the Tennis Courts. It is historically good. We stayed on the west side where it was less choppy.

One more thing I forgot to add. I was trying different techniques to catch fish yesterday and one was to troll through them with a hell/pet. When I got the fish to the boat I realized my #13 pet spoon was broken. Actually the screw or rivet holding the hook to the spoon failed. So I went back to using the #4 Mepps. Later I wondered what would happen if I tied a #2 Mepps to the hellbender and tried trolling. This technique also caught fish so I thought I'd share this with you all in case you lose your pet spoon. Now I need to figure out how to connect the hook to the #13 spoon. Any ideas?

What is a good place to launch on Cedar Creek. Tomorrow the wind is supposed to be around 10 mph, how is the lake with this much wind. Coming from Ennis area.

There is a public ramp between Seven Points and Gun Barrel City. Coming from the west it is just before the second bridge on your right. If you want to launch further south, there is Lone Star Marina. There is a launch fee but I don't know how much it is. 10 MPH wind should be nothing to worry about.

I made 2 more trips out on CC last week and one over the weekend. Caught double limits of white bass and 2 or 3 hybrids each trip. Fish have definitely stopped hitting the #2 Mepps for me. I'm catching them on #4 and have tried out the BoBlade. When I was on a good bunch of fish, I cast 10 times and caught fish on 8 or 9 casts on Mepps 4, then cast BoBlade 10 times and caught fish 8 or 9 times working it like a Mepps. In some places, fish take Mepps 4 like in my video. In other places, I have to finesse them more. Did best by slowly dragging Mepps sideways along the bottom 2 to 3 turns then releasing. Do it again. Then make a medium-fast drag about 7 turns. Sometimes they hit it on the slow 3-turn drag and sometimes they hit it on the faster 7 turn drag.

While I'm waiting for my new boat to arrive I'm limited to fishing from my Kayak which means I'm fishing for largemouth around the docks near my home at Cedar Creek. I had a first this weekend -- I caught a 4 lb hybrid on a carolina rigged lizard in 6 FOW -- go figure.

I got out for an hour and a half today to do a comparison between a Mepps #4, a MAL Mepps and a BoBlade. I found some fish settled down on bottom in 23 fow at Dam Ridge. First, I tossed the #4 Mepps and started catching fish. After 3 fish, I switched to the BoBlade - casting it out and working back to the boat like a Mepps 4. It caught fish also. I played around with speed and length of retrieval. Seven or eight cranks of the reel medium-fast worked the best - catching as well as the Mepps. Then I tried the MAL Mepps, and it did the best working like the BoBlade - catching them as well as the Mepps #4 and BoBlade. They didn't do as we'll as Mepps 4 making 2 or 3 cranks slowly on bottom. I will keep testing to see if the results repeat.

Fish were more finnicky at Tawakoni yesterday. With finesse, I could catch them on Mepps #4, but trying several times with both BoBlade and MAL Mepps, I didn't get a bite. Lenahorse also tried a BoBlade several times and didn't catch a fish. He did catch a bunch on Mepps #4.
