Ahh I see . Couldn’t you just cook it for less time or turn the temp down ?

I could, but then I would have missed out on the ice trick... not often you get to use ice when making burgers frkazoid

I only make smash burgers now. Will never go back to regular patties again.

I used the ice trick for a long time then the light bulb went off.....Freeze butter and use that instead. Have not looked back.

Another "freeze" trick....Take your old coffee and freeze it in the old style ice cube trays...Pour vanilla infused vodka or similar over your Coffee Ice Cubes smile Dang good desert/coffee drink..

Those burgers look excellent! OP, now that you have experienced grinding your own meat, you may want to experiment with other cuts besides chuck or mix in some leaner more flavorful cuts in with the chuck. A nice marbled rib eye steak makes excellent burgers as does a combination of chuck and brisket. Anyway, its fund to fool around a bit with the combinations and you may hit upon an ideal meat mix for your burgers. My favorite combo is 50% chuck and 50% tri tip, but, depending on where you shop, you may have to custom order the tri tip.
