Had planned on fishing Fayette with Doc today, but he wasn't feeling so hot...had to make the trip solo. Had a pretty good day considering the blue bird skies all day & near full moon. Water temp was 72-75 degrees & winds were light all day. Ended up with around 25 bass & 6 or 7 sunfish. Tried for Rios on the rocks, but they have totally disappeared. No red fish & no blue fish...only green fish ! [Linked Image]

Thanks all for the replies...

Chuck...The bluegill were in 8-10 feet of water...actually right where the Rios used to be.

gar...I caught around 3/4 of the bass on bass rig...med action rods & 10-15 lb test & 1/4 of the bass on ultra lite with 4 lb test...This time of year through March I primarily fish for bass just because I have not had any luck finding the sunfish in the winter months.

Thanks Steve. That is a nice depth for sunnies during the fall/winter, especially on a power plant lake. thumb

Side Note: We were catching those Big Cally Slabs during the winter in about 20 feet of water. hooked

Well i went today to Fayette with the intention of trying to hunt down some bigger bluegill. As usual i started off bass fishing. Thats when the bluegill fishing ended. Saw a bunch of fish using the LiveScope. Turned out they were bass on a small hump. Biggest was in the 3 lb range but most were in the 2+ lb range. Hump was 100 X 100 ft. Basically sat there with my spot lock there all day. Went through 3 packs of 20 each trick worms fished whacky style. Quit counting after 35. It was like I was fishing for bluegill and i found them stacked up and willing to jump on the bait as soon as I could get it back in the water. You got to just love it when those bass get so stupid.

Starting to get the bass boat turned back into the wind. Glad to see my compadre gave those bass a sore lip Tuesday !!

Iโ€™ll be looking forward to getting in the fray this next week.

Glad you got into them too TomRom. I agree, perch is past tense for a while now.

Pot Licker โ€” Thanks so much for the โ€œGet wellโ€ !! It worked. grin

Caught around 20 today on Fayette (11/5/20) mostly small with a mess of keepers between 7 to 8 1/2 inches long. Got there around 10:30 and the bites started coming at 1:30 pm. Bites were coming often (not as good as summer fishing) but hooking them was difficult. Gulp crickets did much better than minnows.
If the weather holds may try again next week.
