I've only fished Fayette about a half dozen times, and it's never been one of my favorite lakes, but my girlfriend and I fished last Saturday from 09:00 to about 18:00 and just had a magical day. We caught 139 bass, most in the 2-3 lb range and she caught her PB 4.1. We caught most of them on 1.5 square bills and later in the day on 1/4 oz Red Eye shads. With the exception of the first two fish, we caught everything in about a 100 yard stretch, we just kept going back and forth and catching fish, she even had a double.

It happens. There will be 5 dozen boaters out there today, looking for that magic 100 yard stretch. From the picture you posted, anyone who fishes FCL regularly knows where you were. That pack of fish has probably moved on.

I kept the boat in 7' and threw to the bank which was in about 2' of water. I caught more that she did until she switched to the Red eye shad and the only reason I can think of is I was making a longer cast thus giving the lure a chance to reach a deeper level than her shorter cast (she was throwing the same color). The sq. bill is a Tn. special made by Booyah (BYA XCS2)which use to be made by Xcalibur. It's a shad color with a green flake/black back. When she went to the Red Eye shad she started with a Chrome/black back but wasn't getting a lot of bites so she decided to change to a red crawfish color and she started killing them. I used my old reliable chrome/blue back and caught them too but not as many as her.

Good luck

Way to go. Looks like you had a great day and a really happy co-angler. Doesn't happen often but when it does, it's special.

Yeah everyone needs to concentrate on deer hunting for a few months and just forget all about bass and this lake...wouldn't that be best for everyone? confused 3
