We raised red worms at Amistad Acres for years in boxes . If it got cold a light bulb & 10 mill black plastic would keep them nice and cozy.

I know you can feed them kitchen scraps. I been reading to get the fattes worms It's best to feed them chicken feed.
So I'm thinking something like laying mash or chick starter.

Chicken starter works great. Just a light sprinkle on top. Don't over feed. It will sour.

OK, Ken with a handle like that, you for sure know more about worms then I. Was wanting to get the mash but crumbles was all I could get.
So I soak them in a little water to break them up and put them on top of the bedding. Just put it in bin this even. Will check in morning to see if them like it

cover it with a wet newspaper or cardboard...worms like to eat under something...i used old rugs in my worm bed...i could run water over the rugs to keep the bed damp and the alfalfa pellets dissolved

When only crumbles are available, run them through the blender.
