Started a worm bin about two months ago and they are coming along very good . With winter just around bend I need to find a way to keep them warm.
Are there any others on here that have tryed to raise worms through the winter?

I do not know the first thing about worm raising There are several anglers who post here that do including the one above. You should get some pretty good replies. Seems that you are off to a pretty good start with your worm raising. woot

They love shredded cardboard and newspapers. That and a little water is about all they need. Coffee grounds mixed with corn masa is a special treat. You need to get them inside and keep them warm for winter.

If I moved them worms inside, my wife would move me outside.

If you can get it inside, even a unheated space, you can put a worm bed heating mat under it and lots of newspaper on top to retain heat and moisture. They will die outside.

they won't die if the bedding is deep enough...if you put them inside, they will leave the bed and be all over the place...experience speaking here

I can move them inside my tool shied but it's not heated. Maybe a heat lamp ? Or a empty clay flower pot buryed in the bedding with a light bulb inside the pot

If you have electricity, you can get a hot rock at a pet store. They use them for reptiles. It may be cheaper to just let Walmart raise them for you. roflmao

Ditto. My worm farm is a refrigerator in the sporting goods section at my WalMart. grin

Use an old fridge turned on it’s side. Little corn meal once every two weeks and worms for life. It’s insulated. No wintering issues my grandad did it for many years and I’m following his footsteps. No stopping in Walmart for worms for me!

The wife and I did this for awhile, and sold them. Depth is the key - as you see we used plastic barrels, carpet on top on cold months and a regular light bulb when needed (doesn't take a lot).
