As the Admiral Seas It
Fishing Report: 10/25/20 to 10/31/20
Stop by our Office for up to Date Fishing Report

The marlin fishing has picked up this week, with the water cooling down the fish are starting to move down from up north. Best action at Rancho Migrino on live bait, few on lures.
We caught 1 marlin on Sunday, 1 marlin and 1 blue marlin on Wednesday and 1 sailfish on Saturday.

Dorado is still the happening wide open from Solmar to Los Arcos, best action on live bait and ballyhoo, the bigger fish are caught on ballyhoo and live bait some on lures.
We caught 10 dorados on Sunday, 1 on Monday, 13 on Wednesday, 19 on Thursday, 16 on Friday and 10 on Saturday.

No reports this week on tuna, this should change soon with the cooling water temps.

Few more wahoo reported this week on rapalas and lures, we had a 41lb wahoo at Rancho Migrino.

Dorado is still the hot bite and a few roosters this week on live bait at the Light House.

This next week is the Western Outdoors Tuna Tournament, we will see if the tuna bite picks up, the weather has cooled off very nice.

See you all in Cabo - JC.

Jc’s Sportfishing Charters is a family owned and operated business and has been fishing in Cabo San Lucas for the past 18 years. Jerry, explains that his charter business is geared more for families and novice anglers, making sure everyone who charters a boat with him have a great time and lots of fun. We welcome families, and groups. We want everyone who fishes with us to take all the sites in and have a memorable experience. This is what is most important to us. We have and do a few tournaments each year and can cater to fisherman who might be interested in tournament fishing. Well let’s get on with the fishing report for this past week.

WEATHER: Over the next 14 days the Cabo San Lucas forecast suggests the average daytime maximum temperature will be around 31°C, with a high for the two weeks of 34°C expected on the afternoon of Monday 2nd. The mean minimum temperature will be 22°C, dipping to its lowest on the morning of Saturday 31st at 21°C. Expect the coming 14 days to remain predominantly dry. On the whole winds are likely to be light.

From The Admirals Kitchen!
Griddled wahoo with tomato sauce

4 wahoo fillets, about 175g each
30 ml canola oil
Salt and freshly ground black pepper
30 ml extra-virgin olive oil, plus more for finishing dish
2 cloves garlic, chopped
4 anchovies in oil, patted dry and chopped (about 100g total)
300g cherry tomatoes, halved
5g capers, drained
50g pitted kalamata olives
1 lemon, zested and juiced
2 tsp. fresh oregano leaves, chopped
20g flat-leaf parsley, chopped

Step 1
Heat the griddle to high. Brush both sides of the fillets with canola oil and season with salt and pepper, to taste. Griddle until slightly charred and almost cooked through, about 3 to 4 minutes per side, (it will continue cooking in the sauce).

Step 2
While the fish is cooking, heat the olive oil in a large saute pan over medium heat. Add the garlic, anchovies and tomatoes and cook until slightly soft, about 4 minutes. Add the capers, olives, lemon juice, oregano and parsley and cook for 30 seconds. Transfer the fish to the sauce and let cook for 1 minute. Transfer to a serving platter and serve.

Mint Julep

3 oz. bourbon
5-6 mint leaves
1 tsp. sugar

Place mint leaves in the bottom of a pre-chilled, dry pewter cup. Add sugar and crush slightly with a muddler. Pack glass with finely cracked ice, then pour a generous 3 ounces of Kentucky bourbon over the ice. Stir briskly until the glass frosts. Add more ice and stir again before serving. Stick a few sprigs of mint into the ice to get the aroma.

BEWARE: Please beware of the guys in the street selling boat charters. If you wait till the day you are fishing and go to the dock where your boat is many times people will mislead you to another boat or dock trying to put you on a boat that was not meant for you. You need to have a person guide you to your boat, who is from a reputable charter company. This way there is no confusion or misleading. Please remember when renting Sport fishing boats in Cabo that you rent your boat from reputable and established business. Walk into a fishing fleet office and ask questions about what you are getting and what are the costs. You don't want to rent boats from vendors in the streets and you do not want to book through shady websites offering you the world. Check through travel forums about reputable fishing fleets to deal with. Look for testimonials about the fleet your booking, your charter with. Ask about what will the boat be supplying? Will it include beverages or lunches? How much does it cost to fillet your catch? Check to see if charter boat is insured? Ask about getting your catch smoked? Check cost of a fishing license. These are just a few things to consider when booking your charter boat. We will be talking more about this in the next weeks fishing report. Until next time good fishing and we hope to see you in Cabo soon. Come by the office here in Cabo and get all the latest up to date fishing report.
