On average how often do you change your braided line? What brand & lb test do you use and why?

I use Daiwa J 8 braid. 40 and 50 lb test. I really like the feel and how smooth it is. I use 50 for frog, and flipping/ pitching stuff. Also on my A rig. I use 40 for my C rig rod and my texas rig rod. As far as changing it.. I run a mono backing. I use the line and trim it off as it gets worn. I’ll flip the line over and use the other end. If the spool gets to low. I pull it off, add a little mono and string the braid back on. I’m using braid that’s several years old. No issues and I fish a lot. Hope that helps.

Do y’all tie a monofilament leader on to the braid? If so how long and what weight for flipping and pitching?

I don’t use mono leader. If the water is pretty clear I use fluorocarbon leader. Seaguar flipping fluorocarbon 20lb test I usually put about 8’ on. That way I get several re ties before I have to replace it. Alberto knot for braid to fluorocarbon. Works super.

I use Stren ; as it holds it's color better than most. I only use 50 lb. and just in deep grass. We don't even use it in Mexico for heavy bushes. The wind blows it around and it really cuts into the wood with a fish on. We use 25 lb. XPS Floro. for that. When I use Braid it is tied direct with no leader. C-Rigs are tied direct with braid leader when fishing 20 to 30 ft. of water.

I have 20lb power pro on my spinning rod with a 12 lb fluoro leader.

I also use 30 lb power pro for my top water rid.

I've been using Power Pro 50lb for pitching jigs. I have had good luck with it. I'm going to have to try your idea Coolarrow about flipping the line over. I'm wanting to try different braids for different techniques of fishing.
If your fishing jigs do you have any issues with the line pulling free from your jig head? If so how did you fix that problem?

If you have a problem with line slipping through the gap in the eye, tie on some mono and cut all excess line off leaving the knot. Move the knot to the gap and then tie on the braid, that is the easiest. You can also seal the gap with a drop of epoxy for all your troublesome jigs.

I use power pro 80lb. Never use a leader. To me that defeats the purpose of using braid

If you get snagged on something how do you break off the lure?

My son had a snag with 60 lb braid . No leader . You was able to pull the snag in and get his lure back LOL . [Linked Image]
