Summer of 2020 had T.O.O. target Corpus Christi bay's drive up & wade fishing areas to see how areas fared since 2017's Hurricane Harvey changed some of the bays shoreline structure.

Roughly 20 days were spent wade fishing various areas of CC bay, mostly focusing on the east & south shore.

Northern shoreline and the downtown areas weren't affected too much if at all due to Harvey. Portland shorelines, both in Nueces and CC bay sides don't seem too different. Matter of fact the Nueces bay area seem to be a better fishing location than it was a few years ago.

Western shore along Ocean drive seem to be a bit washed out which is actually good for the fishing, more structure to the bottom for fish to relate to, so those areas are looking good.

Main focus was a bit further south on the western side and and the eastern shore areas that can be accessed by vehicle. They were hit more directly by Harvey and found out this year just how much.

Summer of 2020 was different than previous years as there were more people fishing everywhere along the coast during the week than I've ever seen. Places that would have 2, maybe 3 people fishing on a busy day, had 7,8,9 or more folks fishing in middle of the week.

You'd think with so many fishing the catching would suffer but we experienced really solid fishing for trout & reds, while black drum fishing was a bit off.

Places where 16"-18" are the norm produced 20+" trout and places that in the past often held 20" fish produced 23-25" trout regularly. Still caught undersized and 15"-17" trout but trout sizes were noticeably larger than historical catches all along CC Bay.

East CC bay shore also held nice numbers of reds, the shoreline seem to be cleaned up,(out?) by Harvey and found lots of grass beds and less grass flats, if you understand that.

Couple areas a bit further out into CC bay have a very nice set of guts that had trout running them. Pre-Harvey this bottom was flatter and less fish were being caught back then, due to what I believe was less structure for the fish to relate.

Overall, the lower west & east shore of CC bay provided us with exceptional fishing for the summer of 2020. Eventually the bay bottom will fill in and flatten out and fish will relate to other structure but right now, it looks like these shoreline areas of CC bay will produce nice fish for good number of years.

Few pictures of results fishing the mentioned CC bay shorelines. Only keep 1-2 trout as a rule, reds are made into cerviche so the got kept as well.





One more area to scout fish in 2021 then we'll have most of FFCB revised, excepting the Port A-AP piers, and now Bob Hall.
