Shout out to dobyn’s rods in Sulphur Springs. Broke a champion 704 c on a huge grinnel this last weekend at Bob Sandlin, took $75.00 to the store in Sulphur Springs and got a new 704 c no questions ask. Extremely satisfied.

Not only do they stand by their rods and warranty, they help support the local HS tournament circuit as well.

I've been doing business with Gary since he started up in Northern CA...he has ALWAYS put forth a concerted effort to put forth the best product and customer service of any rod company I have dealt with.

It's not just a store, it is their rod manufacturing plant. They moved it from California. Guess Gary had enough of California politics.
I don't even think it is a traditional store. The have a showroom with what looks like their entire selection of rods. If I remember right they did not even have prices listed on the rods (it's been a year or so since I was there and it was shortly after they moved into the new building). Maybe that has changed.

Is that abnormal? You broke an expensive item doing what it was intended for and they offered you a replacement at cost. Seems like fairly standard operation, no?
Academy use to replace any rod it sold straight up. TFO would too but they have since changed that I believe.
I break 3 rods a year by either closing them in a compartment, stepping on it, or just being an idiot, so I rarely spend more than $150. I have no clue how these premium brands operate.

A huge Grinnel? If you had the line capacity, you should be able to land a 1,000 lb. Marlin on that rod.

If you have a receipt they'll replace it for free. What I do like is I can get it replaced at Fun N Sun here in DFW without having to ship it back and forth.

Dobyns rods are not made in China they are made in South Korea. I corrected my post if it makes you feel better. Still doesn't change the fact that their facility in Sulpher Springs is a warehouse and store front not a manufacturing facility. Either way they sure are priced like their made here.

Either way they sure are priced like their made here. ....and with product made over seas, they probably STILL MADE A LITTLE MONEY “selling” you a warranty rod for $75. Haha Still....$75 is better than full price, even if it might have been a factory defect. (Or not!) I have the water closet full of rods that are either broken or missing parts(guides). Maybe 45-50 rods. I keep thinking that someday I will try to fix half of them with parts from others. But, I’d never spend $75 on one of them. If it was replaced with a new one, I’d jump on the deal, as every one of these broken rods were my fault.
