Why would anyone live in this windy, dusty Godforsaken city. Wind must be steady at 25mph with gust up to whose knows. Stopped at a Rvpark here for the night, heading south for the winter.

It's a fairly small city but lots to do. I lived there 30 years and miss it. I don't miss the weather

Yeah, it's an otherworldly breed of awful. The smell is often astonishing, and I'm happy in the country. The cops in the whole area are awful.

I'm stealing this from The Simpsons, but Amarillo should be classified "NWB," for "Nuclear Whipping Boy." In the first moments of a nuclear war, Amarillo will be bombed at will by all friendly nations to calibrate their missiles.

amarillo had some of the busiest truck stop parking lots in the nation, the lizards were thick after sun went down.

Love the panhandle, lived here about 50 years. Not a place for Nancy Boys.

I was born and raised in Borger , just north of Amarillo. I left in 82, only things I miss are quail and pheasant hunting, walleye fishing, and low humidity.

I don’t know if this has changed, but back then Panhandle people were some the best. Very low percentage of aholes. 😃😃

I live in Amarillo. I like it here. I'm out towards the airport and I don't smell anything from the feedlots or stockyards. The people are friendly for the most part. You can buy a good house for a reasonable price. There isn't a lot of traffic. I can get anywhere in town in 15 minutes. It can be windy but I grew up on the prairies of CO so that doesn't bother me. I have public hunting land not far away where I can hunt whitetails, mulies, turkeys and waterfowl. Before I took the job here I was down in the metroplex and HATED it there.

I'll take Amarillo any day over the cesspools of Dallas, Houston, Austin or San Antonio. To each his or her own I guess.
