Man. I hate to hear this. My prayers are with Shane and his family. Going to be hard going in there now and not having him show me his Tesla or trying to put a Loomis rod in my hand. He was a good man and will truly be missed.

Didn’t know him and never heard of him, but 23 years with pancreatic cancer is impressive a helluva fight, The consensus appears to be that he was a very nice man. RIP.

Paul was always very helpful and helped me out when I couldn't figure something out.

He always had great stories.

The guy was simply awesome. I rarely get excited about shopping due to who's behind the counter, but Paul made that happen.

This has been a terrible year for passings, with many I know dropping like flies, often far too early. Considering the finite nature of life has me thinking about departed people who were good friends of mine back when I was more involved in the fishing scene before I had to back off to take care of my grandmother and parents.

Guide Sherry Ruslink, one of the nicest people who ever lived and a fearsome Lake Fork force.

Thad Rains, a very good angler and great friend.

Jerry Dean from Honey Hole, another super guy. He helped me with a very serious problem.

Doug Hannon, an incredibly friendly and brilliant man I really hit it off with who departed so unexpectedly. I learned more about black bass from talking with him on the phone than all other sources combined. We were planning to fish together after his surgery.

Weldon Bonner, catfish guide par excellence who put my dad on the biggest fish he ever caught.

Makes ya realize you're gettin' old.

Sherry was one of my clients when I was guiding on Fork. Her & hubby were nice folks.
