The Fall Rio bite has been "ON FIRE" ! Getting good numbers most of the time ! Creeks and Rivers are holding some very nice fish. Was able to fish a couple of days with my buddy Rick (Catyakker). The bite was slow but we did manage a few trophy Rios in the 9 inch range. Other days been catching Rios in the 9 to 11 inch range. Fish are holding very close to grass beds in about 4 to 6 feet of water. Fish were all caught on worms using bottom and drop shot methods. All fish were released to fight again. Catching some Fall Trophy Rios. It just don't get any better!

Combine pretty countryside, fall temps., and nice fish and you get a great trip. Nice job guys.

Sooo jealous right now. On a Rio note those critters have been showing up in my perch trap on lake Buchanan the last three weeks. Had no idea they were in there. A cold tolerant strain must be evolving.

Thanks Leo, Ed-n-eddy, Jim Sr, Steve, and Bones 72 for the replies. Bones 72. The past couple of winters have been on the mild side. The Rio population had expanded some. If Texas gets a COLD winter this year a lot of the Rios will die off.
These latest cold fronts are going the slow down the Rio bite a lot.

I was thinking the same thing, Chuck. Skinny water and extended cold season means the Rios are gonna struggle thru the Winter.
