It's a shame that the moralist kooks that are so prevalent in this part of the world think they must rise and save us from ourselves. When a German friend visited me and we went to my lakehouse, he didn't believe me when informed we had to go to the next county over to buy some hooch. He literally thought I was playing a joke on him.

Before that, his jaw dropped upon learning we lose power in winter storms. His lines are all underground. It was a hoot when he asked "Ees zat what all doze crooked poles everywhere are for?"

Hope you and your German friend didn't run out of liquor on a Sunday.

It's a truly wonderful place, and I've whoooped up thru there from PEI to Vancouver island.

The USA is oddly similar while also being a horrific, stinking lowbrow slum in comparison.

When you cross the border, it's like entering a different planet in many ways.

Spending a week in Toronto last year to see the colossus known as TOOL, we had a balcony in our high rise downtown apt. One thing that struck me was during rush hour, if someone blocked an intersection for a few seconds, they were treated a human beings as opposed to here, where people lose their minds and try to overheat their horns. We were amazed at how little honking there was in a major metropolitan area.

Even the one bum we saw was very clean and polite. Conditions there are much, much better than here. Even the left turn lanes and grocery bags are much better, and the #2 square drive they favor puts our Phillips screws to shame.

Their COVID leadership was also much better, with a calamity rate about half of ours.
