I am all for hunting exotics, providing they are culling the injured, weak and aging. But, to kill a young elephant for trophy purposes is BS. Granted some of the outfitters donate the meat to villages. It is not my thing but those type of hunts pump a ton of money into local economies that have few other means of income. And a lot of the money goes back into habitat conservation which helps the overall herd.

I don't have an issue with it, the places I have personal experience with there manage the herd as we would a herd here. I have seen hunts here for "Trophy Longhorn Cattle" but cannot imagine that even being a real hunt or desirable to do.

If the meat is donated to the local villages I'm fine with it. If they are just left there to rot I do not condone it.

They may just be reducing numbers down to carrying capacity. The license was probably north of $30K.

I am pro hunting, although I donโt hunt anymore. I guess if itโs a legal hunt and done for management purposes then so be it. I couldnโt ever shoot one for sport

Without knowing the story from hunter & outfitter I can't say it's insane. But it looks like more of a hunt than everyone around here who sits in a stand waiting for the feeder to go off.
