My son wanted to go fishing so off we went on Sunday. Started off in shallow grass caught 8 fish, 1 was 5 lbs on rattle traps, chatter bait, and a vixen.

Fished the rock and only boated 1 on a shakey head.

Went back to wind blown grass and caught a 4 more, chatter bait, and vixen.

Hit the intake and figured out they wanted a larger magnum trick worm boated 10, 1 of those was on a trap.

Then over to the north side pond dam and boated at least 15 more on green pumpkin magnum trick worms on a shakey head.

Water was off color on the southern half of the dam, not sure what was happening there. Hope this helps.

We noticed the water color change at the dam start happening on Saturday afternoon. It was definitely strange. Fish bit really well for us and the size was much better than the week before. We caught them on Traps, Squarebill, Carolina Rig, Drop Shot and Underspin.

I was out Saturday. Did ok with jigs in channels and good with deep diving cranks on points. Big bait balls are suspending in 20’+

We went out this past Friday and noticed a unique smell when launching at Park Prairie. When we went across from that launch later in the day we notice the same smell again and noticed the water was a brighter green color. See attached picture.

I am assuming this is the lake turning over? We did notice a few fish floating around this area as well but nothing major.

Nice. I was stubborn so I fished the rock line out of the discharge in 10-15' with square bill when they missed that I followed up with T-rig brush hog bounced parallel a long the rocks. Didn't do as well as y'all, but caught plenty and the fish were much larger than my last trip to Fayette.

I didn't lose him at the boat. I shook him off cause I didn't want my hands to get "fishy"

Chris D and I were there on Friday, definitely an algae bloom taking place on the N/E side of the lake. We definitely had more bites as we moved away from that yellowish water (lots of small ones on C rigs). The fishing was tough last year when it turned over in Oct-mid December. Hoping it is not as severe as years past or might just hit Travis and Bastrop.

Went on the 25th. Boated 24 if I count the 3 that jumped into the boat. The cast betters must have called it a year because grass (subsurface)) was everywhere and the water was a foot lower then 3 weeks ago. What has got my worried is that the grass by the fishing pier at Oak Thicket was completely dead. I also noticed patches of grass that appear to be dying but some were totally green and thriving.

Fished Fayette yesterday (pre front 10/26) & had a good day. The grass at the Oak Thicket may have been sprayed...like the reeds in that area, to make it more accessible to bank fisherman there. We did not see any algae bloom and only a few floating fish, but did not visit the Oak Thicket area at all. If you want to see our full report with pics, visit the Bluegill section of the forum where I post regularly...

Yeah. Sucks to see the cattails all dead. Not sure that’s going to help fishing at all. Then again, I suppose it’s just meant to appease weekenders and limited mobility folks.
