Shopping for tin boat. Can pick up a new one with an Evinrude 90 HP motor for a steep price discount. Would you do it?

if not a ficht then heck yeah. there are enough of them out there that shops will still work on them and parts can still be had. previous 2 were johnson 175, both ran excellent and were low maintenance. this was my last one.

Not identified as e-tech on motor cover so presumably not.

I would find someone who works on ‘rudes. Get his opinion...not random folks on forum. If he doesn’t scare you off...go for it.

If its a new 90 then its a Gen1. Very reliable and easy to service. You can get a bootleg copy of Evinrudes EV diagnosis software on ebay for like $60. A steep discount would be very tempting.

I have a 1997 Evinrude Intruder 115. We've owned it since new. In 23 years, I've spent less than $1000 in upkeep on it. Replaced VRO pump once and power pack once. Lots of Stabil and occasional seafoam, and she fires right up. Best boat motor we've ever had.

Bought it in 99 so it is 21 years and still running. I maintain it though. Every other year carb sync and link, decarbonize, plugs, water pump impeller, etc. So yeah, I would buy a new one. It would last my lifetime. Im an old.
