I have a couple of spots, one on a peninsula, one not. Both are limestone and gravel bottoms, about 15 feet deep. Just wondering if I should be fishing punch bait on the bottom, or should I be using a slip cork. Have caught catfish up to 5 pounds at both spots over the years, but never had a bite using my stash of Danny King's/

I tried punchbait from the shore not long ago. I got a lot of bites but never could get a hookset. Well, one, but it came off before I could land it. I switched to a slip bobber and got some action but it was just getting too dark to see the bobber.

I always fish punch bait with a slip bobber rig.

I have been doing really good on the bottom in 25 feet of water. I like cut bait or chicken breast. You can push it in the punch bait for added scent.
