Mark, its funny but the docs and techs and PAs that help with my treatment are not fat slobs! not even close. But I think this thread is hitting on the fact that people working on the sidelines do not present a great image. A few are trim but the majority are not.

The docs usually phoophoo it off saying BMI doesnt matter when I say the scale needs an adjustment.

I realize that which is why I strip down completely naked before I let them take my weight. Once they see what I’m packing they adjust for dong weight and say I’m fine.

I eat lots of sweets, doughnuts, pancakes, candies, breads, and fast food at least twice a day. Smoke 1.5 packs a day, drink at least a six pack of dr pepper every day. Could die tomorrow but so far I'm still college weight of 165 lbs and 6' and no medical issues. Blood pressure on the low side of normal range. Its got to be the fishing and paddling. The one thing I don't do is stuff myself. When I'm about to feel full, I stop eating. Now snacking and probably won't eat anything for dinner until after midnight. Everyone looks fat to me. roflmao[Linked Image]

A good rule of angling philosophy is not to interfere with another fisherman's ways of being happy, unless you want to be hated.

I am at my high school weight at 64. Dropped 15 lbs since I quit working and at a desk all day. Funny thing is eating less and I am pooping less. Good for the septic tank. I put on 30 lbs of muscle while working in the aluminum mill in college. Out of college and living at home I gained another 35 on moms cooking. While I was overweight I looked like a fullback at 6' 240 and a 36" waist. When I bought suits I had to go with athletic sizes. No one made a 48" chest with 36" waist. Bought a house, got away from mom's cooking and put in yard myself. Dropped 35 lbs in process. I am blessed with a high metabolism and have some sympathy for people who struggle with weight. My ex comes from a family where the women all struggled.

That sure seems like a easy gig to me.

You go to work early and beat the traffic going there, you get off after traffic is done and have easy ride home.

You only have to work 3 days per week and be considered full time and get all your benefits like health insurance, etc.

So basically 3 days on per week and 4 days off per week, sure don't seem to demanding or stressful from what I have seen

IMHO, any time you are dealing with human life in the medical setting, that is stress on a bigger scale. A simple mistake can be catastrophic. You could not pay me enough to work in health care. And some of the people you must deal with. No, thank you.

Sedentary work like sitting at computer for hours on end gets you. I know. Not saying I am a victim but I can attest to the consequences.

RR ain't got no clue. He wears blinders. BTW the on 3 off 4 was not mine or most of my co workers schedules. Half the time I worked 5 -12's out of 7 days. If you haven't done it then you've no clue gotta walk a mile in my shoes.

Kinda like me saying plumbers are not intelligent !

5 12s is a baby schedule in the burger flipping world, 4 16s, 2 12s, and throw in a 8 cause something always happens.

I am slightly overweight, so is grand pappy, so is dad. Grand pappy still alive 101, so is dad 82. Genes > diet.
I eat well (lots of veggies/fruits/nuts and fish!), work really hard and married happily. No booze, no smoke, no drugs. I have lost plenty of friends and family that were the mainstream image of health. Cancer, heart disease, dementia, etc..doesn't care how fat you are or aren't. Get over yourselves. Ironic folks going to the doctor that are skinny and sick criticizing the health care workers trying to heal you that are fat and healthy.

I haven't worked an honest day in 20 years and I'm not fat. The secret is going at it like a rabbit every night, even when there's no one else around. You have to be dedicated.

That fluffiness becomes a burden as you age, and the added weight makes it hard on joints that tend to wear out!
Wish I could lose about 20 pounds, but I think my scale is broken as it keeps going back to the same number for the last several years.

Just one more cast!

You're going to get carpal tunnel syndrome if you keep doing that.

Alumacraft I said it was genes- but if you are predesposed (spelling ?) to diabetes or heart disease being obese is not good. Some people can eat eggs (with yolks) every day and not have high cholesterol. Others arent so lucky. Seems like cancer can run that way also.

Has it occurred to anyone many people don’t want to live past a date/age certain so their kids don’t put them in a cheap nursing home.
Choices.
