New to the forum. Headed to Lake Hawkins this weekend. Tried the search feature but guess I'm not savvy enough. Any general advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Be careful mid lake on up. Extremely hard unforgiving stumps, and some genius put rebar in some of them.

My parents live on the lake and I was actually out there last weekend. Definitely need to be careful running mid lake and up north. Just pay attention to the buoys. Shoot me a PM for some insight on fishing

I remember fishing those stump flats with a spinnerbait this time of year many years ago. It reminded me of Mexico the way those fish just destroyed the bait - maybe 3 fish and it was done. No giants but just mean!

In Cooler weather...use a jerk bait over and beside submerged grass to catch chain pickerel for something different...in the deeper south side....not sure if it's cold enough yet but worth a shot...my biggest bass there was over 6....if you fishing bass only definitely go to north end...one lane Ramp by the 2869 bridge .. not much parking and you will need some backing up skills but really dont need to do much running down the lake to bass fish...lake is small anyway...

I moved to hawkins recently and have been fishing the lake a lot. Its tough right now. I havent done well out there since July. Fished last weekend with my kiddo, I caught a solid 2.5 on my 3rd cast on a dock and not even a bite the rest of the day. I can't figure out why it doesn't fish better than it does
