So I finally broke away from the "honey do" list my wife made up and got to the lake. It was a spectacular day for float tubing! No wind, trees showing some color, temp were just right and no real humidity. Wasn't sure how the fishing was going to be but it didn't take long to find out. I launched the tube and kicked about 6 or 7 feet from the shore and was rigging up. I dropped an unbaited 1/64th oz jig head into the water about a foot down while I has squaring away my lure box arrangements in the tubes storage pockets and about a 3 inch gill hit the unbaited jig. Yep, less than one minute to the first fish. Took that as a good omen.
I went over to one of my regular spots and put a piece of crawler on the jig head and tossed out. Got this on the very first cast

Real nice solid gill of a little over 8 inches and I took fish pretty steadily with all of them running over 6 inches. Was really enjoying myself until this pesky thing showed up and kind of put a slight hold on the sunfish.

Nice little bass of about 2 1/2 pounds or so. He was really feisty and jumped 3 or 4 times. I was only fishing 4 lb line so I had to play him out. Funny thing was after I caught the bass the good sized gills shut down and all I was getting were 4 or 5 inchers so I moved to another spot that has been good to me. That was a good plan because a whole bunch on good gills were stacked up there. Not sure how many I pulled out at the 2nd spot but it was at least 30 and they were all solid fish

One thing I noticed was the fish were really colorful at the second spot. Most of them were gills but I did get a few smaller shell crackers and a couple redbreasts about 6 inches long. When the bite slowed down at the 2nd spot I decided to try one more place. On the first cast and the new place a hung a nice crappie. That kind of surprised me since I have never caught a crappie there before and on the second cast I got the biggest gill of the day.

Fish at the last spot were fewer in number but made up for it in size. I had another one of these show up as well

and at the end of my time on the water I had about a 3 lb channel cat hit. I kept the cat, the crappie and a few gills for the pan and turned the rest loose.

All in all, a really good day on the lake. Almost hate to have to go back to Amarillo, but work calls.
Cheers Y'all.
