Is there a boat rental business that rents high end tournament ready bass boats? Does anyone know of any business doing this for the tournament fishermen out there? In my mind we all have motor and boat issues now and then, so we all need to Hussle to get that issue fixed, sometimes these issues happen before or during a multi day event. Wouldn't it be great if there was someone to call and have a high end rig delivered to the ramp and just go at it for the day and then hand back the keys!
Thoughts anyone?

Prolly not worth the cost. What I would have to charge for someone renting a boat per day would be a lot.

Theoretically the concept sounds appealing; however, the liability insurance plus maintenance and a revenue margin to make the effort worthwhile would likely result in a daily rental fee that would not be appealing to the masses.

As a rental operation you put $50k into a tourney worthy boat rigged with electronics and the latest trolling motor how many days a month would it be rented vs. sitting in storage that also cost money?

Then you have people that are potential renters and say well this rig has Birds on it and I only know how to run Lowrance.

Additionally, fishermen are typically running in waters or lakes that are known to have underwater hazards unlike recreational boaters. As with any fisherman, it's not a matter of if, but rather when you drop a lower unit or have damage to fiberglass. Perhaps this makes an argument to only run aluminum boats, but that's a different discussion altogether.

I would also add does the operator of the boat take into caution the navigable water in a rental vs. his own boat? In other words, I would venture to say people in rentals are more likely to abuse the boat than an owner of said boat.

I would also add you then open yourself up to people that don't own a boat and have very little to no boating experience and that can be a recipe for disaster.

When you look at the big picture it starts to loose it's appeal...IMO.

A friend of mine recently rented a pontoon boat, it was brand new, first time out. Long story short, he did some damage to it and it cost him over $5000 for the repairs. He paid without any hassles but I can only imagine what most people would have done and many would not have had the money to pay. He’s a pretty experienced boater but was in a bad position and had a huge yacht come by and the waves came over the front and did a lot of damage.

The only high end boats I’ve seen available came from boat clubs. There was one in Tennessee that had some very nice high end boats, not sure if they had any bass boats or not but definitely had high end wakeboard boats among other types.

True BMCD and we almost always need the boat for 3 or 4 days for pre-fishing.

Yes C130 there are some high end boats for rent on Conroe also, the wake boats and pontoons go for up to $1000 a day but they can get multi families on a boat to split cost. Insurance premiums must be high.

Great points WattoFish …. I guess a few rigs with different electronics options would work. Yes high risk for insurance liability, I imagine that's why the service does not exist. It actually takes time to learn how to run a 250 powered bass boat so I guess the renters would need to be heavily vetted and verified using social media and would need to take some safety course and liability waivers signed out the wazoo.

I could see renting being more then anything you could win if it was for multiple days.

Pontoons out here get about $700-$800 for half a day. They stay pretty booked spring to fall. I'd think you could do it if you rigged out a decent boat. No need for a 75k boat. You can rig out a 25k boat that'll fish a tournament just as good.

I've thought about renting my boat out, and provide a driver, to guys that want to go fishing. Not a guide service like normal, but just let them tell me where they want to go and I take them there. Renter can run the trolling motor, and graph up front, and I'll sit back and watch. Maybe just often enough to pay for my boat and any upgrades I'd like to do.

ETA: Commercial insurance would probably be required though and I'm sure it's high.

I can't believe there wasn't some kind of insurance in place to fix this...

At Lake Fork Boat Rentals on FM 515 near Lake Fork there was a bass boat that looked like a 20' sitting in front of their business during the Skeeter tournament.
