Myself and a few friends went out to do some bass fishing. One of the friends with me had fished this body of water a good amount and had never caught any crappie. However, after thinking the cast I had just made was over and burning in a lipless crank, a crappie SLAMMED it right at the boat. I had never seen a crappie be so aggressive. Do crappie normally eat larger artificial lures like that? I was very surprised by this. Sadly I was not recording when this happened, but did record after the catch and explain what happened. If you are interested the crappie part starts at 8:53. The rest of the video is bass fishing.

Yes sir, crappie are like bass when it comes to a reaction strike. If they can get it in their mouth they will.

I’ve caught them on full size spinnerbaits, flukes, lizards, and crankbaits.

I caught a big crappie on a dd while bass fishing at pk this august. It was a shock. The idea that it thought it could get it down was funny.
