I have to tell you that after months of not being able to fish it was such a blessing to get out on the water with Dad. The excitement was off the charts for both of us. We had a dry spell and we were ready to break it.
Last time the two of us were able to hit Fork was back in April. Since April we managed to hit Lavon once and Tawokini once and if I remember correctly we managed 6 at Lavon and 8 at Tawokini.
We hit Fork the last two days. On Day one we managed 14 and considering we were brushing the Cobb webs off I thought it was a great day. The wind was bad and to top it off the batteries died on our trolling motor remotes (including our back up) and guess what...we seemed to have a bag full of AA replacements and we needed AAA.

Well we limped over to shore and I walked up to one of the local stores and got some batteries.
Then went back out for Day 2 and again the wind was bad (totally unforecast) I know right.
We were slugging it out and at 1:30 we had 24 which was obviously better than the 14 we managed the day before.
Dad looks at me and says I don't think it's gonna happen for us today son, but I'm happy we still had a good day. I told my Dad I totally agree with him that it has been a good day, but it's not how you start but how you finish.
I said let's change some things up and see what happens.
We were doing really well with white and chartreuse feathers. Who would have known that Crappie like white and chartreuse jigs.

Anyway, I went back in my Rolodex of a memory and remembered fishing Fork and we had been slaying them all morning on various colors and then like a light switch they shut off and we couldn't buy a bite. What happened?
Well when that happens I usually start changing colors and will try different things until I find something that the Crappie want. I mean if you want to catch Crappie you need to give them what they want right?
Well I remembered this one color that when all others failed it was the spark to get things going again on that day where they just shut off. Cinnamon and Royal Blue. I put on some of those and let me tell you what...you better hang onto your rod or they were going to rip it out of your hands.
Before we knew it we had a double limit and left them biting.
We used ACC Crappie Stix rods.
Feather jigs from Zach Church at Fearless Jigs.
Feather jigs from Vernon Overstreet (PEPOP).
Feather jigs from Bill Baldwin (Bubbas Baits).
Fish were all over the water column and we caught them 15 feet to 23 feet.
We fished bridges, Timber, and Brush piles.
My new ACC hat arrived before we hit the Lake and I got some Crappie pics with it.
Got a picture above with my wife.
Managed a snap of our Crappie Slaying vessel. "THUMP25"
My new Bubba Blade electric knife. I know it came up on another thread about which electric knife was the best and what I had originally posted. After trying the Bubba Blade Electric knife out it gets a 10 out of 10 from me and it is an absolute game changer. Worth every penny! I bought the kit it comes with a carrying case, 2 batteries, and 4 sets of blades, and a charger.
It was an awesome couple of days for sure and I think the smiles say it all.
Wishing everyone success in their fishing adventures and Tight Lines!

Hope we can get out again soon.
