Mercury probably has the most widely available parts
Yamaha and Honda have good reputations
Suzuki on a budget.
There are places that will still service Evinrudes.

Take a look at a 17' Bass Tracker with a 4 stroke Mercury. I sold mine a couple of years ago and although I love my Champ, I miss that lil Bass Tracker. The motor was awesome and quiet. Boat never leaked and never had any problems with it. Very easy to maintain too. Styles of Bass Trackers don't really change much over the years so finding one about 2003 and newer would be in your price range with a 4 stroke Mercury. Good luck

Tin Star: That's what I fish with but I am retired and can fish during the week. If I were needing a boat for the weekend it would need to be a bigger center console as the wakes get pretty large during the weekend. Wake boats are a curse during the summer months.

Great piece of advice...and most important...when buying used: - Make sure the titles to the boat and motor are in the owner's name. Check the driver's license of the person selling the boat with what is on the title. This saves a TON of headache after the $$ is exchanged. The trailer only needs a "bill of sale". - Take care of all the paperwork with the seller before money changes hands. Enjoy the process, and be patient

Patients will get you something. Have to agree with above though^^^^^. “Chasing sandbass” and Jonboat don’t usually go together.
