Found one at a garage sale this morning. In good shape - used some but not abused. Had a dolly and 2 paddles. What is a fair price on it?

I'd offer less than a hundred if there's no price on it with the paddles. Talk to the woman. thumb

Guess it depends what they're asking for the other stuff too, if it's all expensive....

He was asking $450. I've been looking for a tandem kayak that's stable for me and at least one of the kids. The market has just been bonkers the last few months.

I was thinking about offering $300.

I think $300 is fair price for that Old Town.

No more than $301.

Winter is coming, that drops the demand and therefore price. He might get $400 in spring.

Take your son with you... offer $300 as you pull out your coffee can with "kayak fund" written in bold letters on the front.. make sure the bills are all old ones and fives and include a few rolled dimes and quarters. If he says no, have your son start crying.

If that doesn't work, go to plan B... kick kayak a couple of times (tire test), pull out a crisp $50 and tell him to sell or smell it. bolt

I did take my son back. No coffee can. Got it for $350. Kids are really excited to have lots of room in the boat.
