I just posted a trip report but I wanted to add for kayakers you can drive right up to the lake or at least on the bank. The bank is steep but there's one part where it's not. I was able to get my little inflatable in and out without too much trouble, but it wouldn't be the best place for someone that's not very mobile.

Also there are supposed to be two different parks in Converse with ponds? This is the Converse city park, I think the other one is called North park, anyone have any info on how that one is for kayaks and fishing?

I fish from the bank on North Lake in Converse four or five times a week. Lots of kayaks and lots of stories about big Bass and Catfish. Fished pretty heavily. Lots of reeds along the shore. There are a couple of places to launch but you will have to drag your boat about 30 yards from the parking area. Converse City Park lake is deep and use to have a lot of Big Bas, Catfish, and Bluegills (about 20 years ago). Not sure what happened but was told a flood cause a spill from the treatment plant and they had a fish kill. No record of it ever been stocked but I was told TPW stocked it last month. Sure hope to live long enough to enjoy the fruits of there labor. City Park Lake is one nice looking piece of water. wink
