Bought a card yesterday. Getting ready to activate it.

One thing I saw watching videos is I have to put what kind of fishfinder I have in it. Will it work with others if I do that? I have a Lowrance Hook2-7TS and a Hook2-9SS. If I program it for one can I take it out and use in the other?

Do I need Nautical charts? Seems to me like Sonar charts provide the same and even more info.

Any other advice?

It will not matter which HOOK2 you choose. I will let someone else answer you which charts question.

activate it and download any updates, I think they still give you a year of free updates.
sonar is what you want for fishing. it will work in any lowrance they say it will (should have a list of units somewhere) but it is specific to lowrance, won't work in a bird or garmin etc.

Not true. I have two Navionics Platinum + cards for my Lowrance graphs. Recently switched to a HB Helix on the bow. I put one of the cards in and guess what, it works.

You select the unit when you register it because some units cannot use all the features and they get blocked when you do an update.
Typically it is Community Edits with Humminbird units.

Nautical Charts is Navionics maps.
Sonar Charts is HD mapping created from unit owner sonar logs.

Downloaded Falcon. Is there any way of correcting the water level? I looked around 15 minutes and can’t find it. All the youboob videos I see talk about water level offset in the app.

Something else I noticed but haven’t looked into yet:

Took the card out of one unit and put in the other. Waypoints did not transfer with the card. I can manually put the in the second unit I guess but is there an option to store it in the card itself?

Waypoints are stored in the units memory not the card. You do not want to write anything to the map cards, always make sure the map card is locked.
