1970 Johnson 9.5hp has new coils new points new plugs new plug wires good compression new kill switch.no fire. any help will be appciated. thanks gene

Hey Gene. Have you owned the motor while it was running and it quit or something you picked up and are trying to get going? I still run my grandfather’s 25 hp evinrude, it’s about that same vintage. Just wondering.
When you installed the points did you replace the condenser also. Did you set the Timing on the points? When the flywheel was off did the magnets appear to be intact and the alignment key ok? Also I would check the operation of the kill button with a ohm meter. Make sure it makes and breaks. We can start here.

hey the motor was given to my grandson it already had all the new parts on it.new condensers too. set the points the flywheel magnets looked ok. disconnected the kill button.

The points are set properly? .020 +- top of cam lobe? Check magnets on fly wheel to be still strong. Check gap on coil.
