I am planning a trip to Lake Buchanan aroung the third week of October. Will be staying at Black Rock Campground. What should I expect the fishing to be like? Will have a boat but mostly will be fishing from shore. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks , Randy in Alabama

If you have a boat and good electronics stay down by the damn area and look at humps in the 25-35 feet of water. There are several right there around black rock. If you get up early and be at the dam at first light there is a good chance you will catch them schooling . Look for cannonballs.

Stripers/hybrids and whites. Cannonballs are big hybrids and Stripers blowing up on top. You can see them from a long ways off. As for baits either live shad or jigging spoons. There is a Exxon station not far from there that has the popular jigging spoons, maltese minnows. Pencil popper for top water.
