I haven't had luck drifting Grapevine and iit has confused me in the summer. I can catch random fish, but patterning them on that lake has been tough for me in the summer. Also, I have trouble catching good size shad in Grapevine. Lots of little threadfins where I fish. I catch to many rocks and trees when I drift Grapevine LOL. I prefer to Drift Lewisville because I snag up much less and I can catch those nice shad easily. BUt I will refigerate those shad from Lewisville, and come Fall and Winter, I love Grapevine. i do very well in shalllow water on Anchor. fishing on Ancor with clickers is my favorite. And cold water fish in Grapevine have shoulders. Lots of 6 to 12 pounders. Last year a 35 pounder was my biggest hook up. And I see people catch them much bigger. There are toads in that lake. I am hoping this cool weather brings them into the shallows. Lake Grapevine is 20 minutes from my house. Lewisville is more of a commitment for me, but it is a better summer fishery IMO. Lewisville is great in the cold water too, don't get me wrong, but if I can catch them near my house, that is what I do, But I have to mix up the trips because I need those big shad that elude me on Grapevine NOw in the springtime shad can be easy in Denton creek. I hammered the cats last night on Lewisville.

Heres an old pic of a cat I caught in August probably 8 or so years ago. I was fishing against some of the steeper banks on the north in about 30 ft of water. I was bass fishing at the time and caught him on a crankbait. But I bet a live bluegill in those rocks could put a monster on your line.

I catch big flatheads several times a year crappie fishing. There is a good population in Gvine for sure.
