I need a new battery in my 2017 Jeep Wrangler.

Seems simple enough, but the folks at Jeep seem to have pulled a fast one. The battery has the positive terminal on the right side close to the front of the battery. Additionally, the battery must have a handle...there is no room to have your hands on the side of the battery as you put it in place.

Is the dealership my best source? Are the batteries at the auto places decent?

Just had mine replaced in my 17 Silverado. What a HUGE pain. I let Firestone do it.

I would like to do that...but I cannot start the Jeep..

The battery will not take a charge.

You can buy a handle that hooks onto the terminal or studs, its like a strap, usually napa has it but other auto parts store may also.

Most batteries do have a handle of some sorts.

To try and get a charge jump the battery to another one with cables leaving them connected and then put the charger on at the same time. (this is technically how you would re charge any fully dead battery)

If it wont jump or charge that way remove and clean the terminals and put them back on and try again.

I use NAPA. They have a huge regional warehouse in Coppell and a small retail store front. If the store doesn't have it, they walk back into the regional warehouse and get it.
The batteries at auto parts stores are as good as dealership batteries with just lower markup.

Just go to Walmart and get their best battery . If your manual or whatever calls for a Group 48, an H6 is the same thing. I'm fixing to change mine, and the Youtube videos looks like it's a pretty simple swap.

Again...positive post has to be on the right front. Not the left...not even the back. There is not enough battery wire from engine to stretch to battery post in rear of battery.

Exactly. A battery is a battery. Aint nothing special about the Jeep dealers battery. Get Walmart's 5-year battery and if it dont make it to the 5 year mark you will receive a pro-rated credit towards purchase of a new battery.

go to any auto parts store, tell them what you need and let them look up the replacement. they will likely have it.

call first if they are a drive.

Auto Zone and O'Reilly's will replace them at no charge. Make them do the work. I always tip the guy $10.

Do you have another vehicle to jump it off with? If so leave it connected for awhile.
