Hello Texas Fishing Forum Members, during this often difficult time of the year for bass fishing a shallow running crankbait paired with a strategy for locating both the baitfish and bass can be key to catching some solid fish.  Unlike many other times of the year when the location of bass is largely influenced by the water temperatures and water quality the presence of bait is the typically the largest factor in locating large schools of actively feeding bass. This is especially true for the period after the fall turnover. Typically the back 1/2 of major creeks here in Texas will hold the most fertile water in the shallows and attract both the bass and forage. Fishing a crankbait in shallows is one of the best techniques for imitating shad and having a successful day on the water.  Check out the video below to see some tips on how to make the most of your upcoming bass fishing trips.  How to fish a crankbait and where to fish for the best results are shown in this video. Please feel free to leave a comment if you have any questions or if you would like to add any tips from your personal experience to this post in order to help out other fellow anglers.  As always thank you for watching and tight lines my friends!

Respectfully,

Stephen Fatherree
