Hey everyone-

Working from home the vast majority of this year because of Covid has been strange and tough at times but one of the major pluses is being able to get out and fish more during the day. With WFH for my company continuing for at least the next three months, I plan on fishing more this fall than I ever have before!

I've heard of the 'fall bite' but 95% of my bass fishing over the years has occurred during the spring and summer, so I really don't have any idea what it's like or if it's all it's made out to be. Anyone have any tips for bank fishing with temperatures *starting* to cool off a bit as we move into October? Do the fish have any tendencies, do they start chasing certain baits/lures over others, do they move to different water, etc? Any time I've fished in cooler weather, I've never really changed much from my usual strategy of using Texas-rigged Senkos or spinnerbaits but I'm trying to adapt more and be a smarter fisherman.

Depends greatly if you're bank fishing lakes vs rivers vs ponds. Ponds just means they will feed more through the day instead of getting tough during the day like in summer. There's usually only minnows, sunfish, and crawfish in ponds so there's not a fall schooling and pushing bait balls like with shad in the lakes. They will also be more shallow on avg in the fall vs the summer. For a river or lake yes - the shad chasing occurs so you'll do best going to pockets with some cover with deep water access near by and throw shad lures for them.
