When I was in college, I went fishing with my buddy, my girlfriend and my German Shepard on a little 17ft boat I bought cheap. German Shepard would chase the crankbait I was throwing every cast, back and forth. At one point, with all the movement going on, I lost track of my girlfriend. Reached back for the cast, threw forward, and caught her in the head, right behind the ear. Barb embedded deep. She let me take a pair of pliers, pull the hook through the rest of the way and cut the barb off. 5 years later we got married...

Early this month, my son in law cut his thumb off down to the knuckle messing around with a cross bow. They couldn’t reattach it.

For those that asked, my finger is about 95% now. It’s shaped a little different, but the nail completely grew back and it is almost totally functional.

How did it happen? I was doing some maintenance on the elliptical machine and wasn’t paying attention to the moving parts when I got finger caught between two pieces of rotating steel. It hurt. A lot.
