I have a picture of this but I'm pretty sure I will get in trouble if I post it.

good timing on bumping an old post... I was fishing by myself and caught a 33" red snapper about 7 miles off the coast from the mouth of the brazos this past sunday. Not at the Geo. Vancouver reef, but a little past it at the middle bank. Not only was it the biggest snapper I had ever caught in state water, but it was the biggest ever for me anywhere. I thought I had a shark until it rolled to the top.

in comparison, this is the size (20 - 24") i normally catch 35 miles offshore during the federal season.

I was so surprised, that I didn't even have a gaff or net ready. I thought for sure I was going to lose it at the boat diddledicking around trying to get the gaf out and get it stuck good enough to haul in the boat.
