How To Make Jug Lines for Kayak Fishing

DIY video to answer the mail... how to make jug lines for kayak fishing. In this case, the jug lines we used to catch a nice Catfish the other day... See Link.

Have tried various jug lines including commercial and homemade diy jug lines. So far, liking this one. It does not flag but works well in windy conditions and is sensitive enough to see the strike.

Do give these a try! Easy to make jug lines!

Any color but orange for Texas if non-commercial fishing...

Lake Lavon Fishing | Kayak Jug Lining This Round

Back to Lake Lavon for more fishing. This round went kayak fishing with the jug lines, putting in at Highland Park. Was a calm morning on the lake when we started fishing, but later the wind kicked in.

Caught several Blue Catfish and Channel Catfish. Ended up keeping three Blue Catfish. Jug lines worked well as well as the Safety Pins for the Tennis Ball Stringer... worked much better putting fish on the stringer compared to the shower clips we used before.

Skeg worked out well on the Pelican Catch 100, too!

Bite was steady with Gar taking more like stealing our shad. But, once we adjusted the jug line sets to fish the area near the trees, the bite picked up on Catfish!

Fun trip... do check it out!

Happy Hump Day... A livestream session to detail the Tennis Ball Kayak Fishing Stringer that we use when fishing from a kayak. Originally used shower clips, and then a Viewer suggested Safety Pins... the big ones used for securing laundry bags. So far liking them better than the shower clips! Do check out the video... and Thanks for stopping by!

When you guys bait up with live Shad, on your jug lines, where do you hook them? I usually use cut bait, and have great success. Went out this morning to test out my new Grayline bait tank, and baited up live shad. Came back to 22 empty hooks, and zero fish. I hooked all of them behind the dorsal fin in their back. Should I be going through the mouth instead?

When using live Shad, normally hook in the mouth.

Regarding the irritating stolen bait problem, I may have found a solution. I ordered both magic thread and miracle thread, can't tell the difference, but it seems to hold shrimp and chicken on the hooks pretty well.

Never had a problem with chicken. But, don't think I could tie a live shad onto a hook.....I certainly wouldn't know how to, that's for sure.

Depends on the depth you want to put the bait at. I have 16 different line lengths, and various depth for hook placement on each one. If you use multiple hooks, on each line use a 3 way swivel. Keeps the fish from twisting the line all around them.
