My guide buddy Steve sent me this pic yesterday when he was getting off the water. He saw this 50 lbr floating dead with a 5-6 lb Largemouth Bass lodged in his mouth. Kayak Catfish on YouTube uses cut largemouth to catch catfish. In Tennessee, you can use any legally caught fish as bait. Sand bass are one of his favorite baits.

It seems that catfish will eat just about anything. I plan on trying persimmons for bait soon. I've read that they love fruit.

If it fits or nearly fits in a catfish mouth and they want it and can catch it, they eat it. Apparently the one shown above fits the old saying "Bit off more than it can chew"

I remember I saw a photo a good while back of a dead catfish floating with a soccer ball in it's mouth!......It might have been on this forum, I really don't know?
